Your Sanctuary Counselling

A bit about you...
All of us experience ups and downs in life – it’s par for the course. Sometimes, though, there can be times when our problems can become overwhelming or all-consuming. They stop us from getting on with life and get in the way. That’s when counselling can really help.

Maybe you are….
Struggling with anxiety and depression
Feeling that the trials of life are getting you down - we've all been through so much with the pandemic and now the cost of living/energy crisis
Finding it hard to cope with, identify or move on from past experiences that are impacting on your life in the here and now
Feeling like you’re constantly trying to please others, but are finding little time to be who you really are, or to do the things you really want to do
Feeling overwhelmed with grief or struggling to live with a loss such as a bereavement, the end of a relationship, or the loss of another important aspect of your life
Finding it difficult to adjust to a change or transitional period in your life
In a situation where you’re finding it hard to accept how things have turned out
Feeling suffocated under the weight of your day-to-day responsibilities, or by the expectations that have been placed on your shoulders
A bit about me...
My name is Peter and I’m a fully-qualified counsellor and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I can provide sessions online or face-to face in Bishop's Stortford. I use dedicated counselling rooms in the centre of Bishop's Stortford offering both flexibility and convenience.

My aim as a counsellor will be to empower you to take control of your life. I will focus on you as a human being rather than on your individual problems or issues and I will help you to determine what is the best way forward for you.

I have experience of working with people across a range of issues, including with children and young adults (from the age of 13). I can work with you on a short-term basis (normally around 6-12 weekly sessions) or in a more open-ended, long-term way - whatever works best for you. Currently, I have good availability - including some weekend sessions.

I work integratively which means that I draw on a variety of theoretical approaches depending on the needs of the individual client.

Useful information
Here's a bit more about how things work. Do feel free to get in touch if you have any further questions.
Fees
Each session of counselling costs £50. I require payment by bank transfer 48 hours before each session. I recognise that in these tough times, money is tight for many. Please do get in touch if that's the case - I may still be able to help you depending on your circumstances.

Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes both face-to-face and online
Arranging sessions
When you contact me, I will get back to you as soon as possible to arrange a mutually convenient time and date for sessions to begin.
If you'd like to, we can arrange an initial, no obligation telephone consultation free of charge. This will take around 10-15 minutes and will enable us to decide if counselling might benefit you and if I am the right therapist for you.
Cancellation policy
Where possible, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel a counselling session, otherwise full payment may be required.

If I need to rearrange a scheduled session, I will endeavour to provide 48 hours' notice.
